An Overwater Cabin

The site for the project is Hoddevik - on the west coast of Nordfjord. Hoddevik lies on Stadlandet, a peninsula in Stad municipality on the west coast of Norway. The peninsula is known for its beautiful beaches, dramatic landscape and weather, unique cultural history, and fantastic surfing conditions.













Having never lived in a cabin before, some scenes from the Norwegian documentary "Brødre" deeply moved me. The two brothers running up and down in a lakeside cabin inspired me to design a cabin on the water.

The structural units consist of simple steel frames and cables, aiming to create a light and serene feeling of the cabin on the water. People access the cabin via a small bridge over the water. The floor plan is symmetrically arranged, with service spaces in the center and living and bedroom spaces around the perimeter.
